Bishop Lacy Sykes, Jr., is the founder of Cross Word Christian Church in Riverside, California. The motto of the church is “remember the Cross…focus on the Word”. Cross Word Church started as a home bible study in January of 2000 and officially became a church on August 20th of that same year. To date, God has blessed Cross Word with a mobile membership of over 4400 with over 40 active ministries.

Cross Word Church is a multi-ethnic, multi-denominational, multi-generational church connected through ONE culture: a Christian culture conformed to the image of Christ. The focus of Bishop Sykes is to teach God’s people how to live a Godly life by giving practical examples and simple applications of how the Bible is relevant in today’s society.

Bishop Sykes is an advocate for the family and community, and has been invited to speak at numerous church and social engagements. He and his wife, Associate Pastor Karen Sykes, have been married for over 23 years and they have five children.
